The project
A 220 sqm villa in Borgo Po (Turin hills, climate zone E, north-west facing). 18 windows were replaced with Salamander BlueEvolution 82 plus 4-12-4-12-4 triple glazing with double low-emissivity argon fill, Uw 0.9 W/m²K. Three LMT 92 aluminium lift-and-slide doors onto the garden, up to 3.2×2.3 m. Made-to-measure supply with technical documentation for installation to UNI 11673.
The context
A 220 sqm villa in Borgo Po, in the Turin hills, north-west facing in a zone classified climate E, where cold winters, wind exposure and sharp daily temperature swings put real demands on a building envelope. The owners wanted maximum insulation without giving up large glazed openings onto the garden, a combination that ruled out standard double-glazed specifications for this exposure.
The technical solution
Eighteen windows were supplied in Salamander BlueEvolution 82 PVC with 4-12-4-12-4 triple glazing and a double low-emissivity coating with argon fill in both chambers, a specification that reaches Uw values around 0.9 W/m²K in the catalogue range. Three LMT 92 aluminium lift-and-slide doors, sized up to 3.2 by 2.3 metres, open the living spaces onto the garden without compromising the thermal performance of the rest of the envelope. Hardware and weatherstripping were specified for the wind exposure typical of the site.
The outcome
Triple glazing at this specification gives the villa a thermal envelope suited to the demands of a north-west-facing hillside position, reducing heat loss through the coldest months while the large lift-and-slide doors keep the garden connection the owners wanted. The order was manufactured to measure and supplied together with the technical documentation required for installation to UNI 11673, ready for the client's installer to fit on site.
